This was done entirely in Adobe Illustrator. Really.

This was comissioned by a bank as a gift for a retiring Board member. He raised horses, had been in the Coast Guard, owned and flown a biplane, and driven a Rolls Royce full of Civil War vets during the opening ceremony of the Whitestone Bridge in 1939. Here is one of the photos I worked from and the sketch I did before beginning the Adobe phase.
